New Subscription Commerce Service Delivers a Monthly “Goody Box” for the 420 Lifestyle
Los Angeles, CA. December 4, 2013 – Artisanal coffee to fashion-forward outdoor gear to affordable pop art, subscription commerce has taken off in a big way in recent years. There’s “Birchbox” for skincare, “Manpacks” for men’s grooming supplies, and “Kiwi Crate” for kids’ craft projects, just to name a few.
While subscription boxes have been around for a while, there are precious few catering to the cannabis lifestyle. One such subscription service is the 420 Goody Box.
Conceived and launched by serial entrepreneur Elle Fine, the 420 Goody Box comes at a time of sweeping changes as marijuana legalization becomes reality in more regions across the US.
The 420 Goody Box shares a business model similar to established brands in the subscription commerce space. Subscribers sign up from an online portal and receive a monthly care package shipped to their location.
Each 420 Goody Box package contains five to eight items. Its selection includes products designed to enhance the lifestyle, such as vaporizers, grinders, glass pipes, magazines, food and novelty items. The company sources products by partnering with its suppliers, which include indie brands and local manufacturers.
A notable absence is actual marijuana. While subscribers do not receive any marijuana due to federal regulations, that may soon change. “It’s only a matter of time that regulations are relaxed. We will be ready when that happens. We will work with growers across the country and source unique, top-shelf strains for our subscribers to sample.” said Fine.
For now, 420 Goody Box is focusing on developing its subscriber base and maintaining a high retention rate. It targets both the recreation use and medical use markets and asserts it can serve both communities equally by helping them discover new products and adding more value to the cannabis experience.
Subscribers can join for $19.18 a month and there are plans for discounted rates for 3-month and 6-month subscriptions. The company currently does not ship to persons under 18 or to residents of Iowa and Pennsylvania due to state restrictions.
According to founder Fine, the service is already garnering positive response from both recreational and medicinal users.
